We regularly send our modules to independent test laboratories to push them to the absolute limits of resilience. This enables us to guarantee safety and return on investment for the entire service life of the product.

Pressure and tensile loads - such as from wind or snow - put a strain on photovoltaic modules. Standard modules have a thicker front glass and work with a film on the back. The WINAICO glass-glass series offers 2 mm thick, robust, durable and weather-resistant thermal glass on both the front and rear sides. This means that the cell structure is in the „neutral fibre“. The tensile and compressive stresses in this layer are so low that the risk of micro-cracks in the cells or connectors is virtually zero.

TÜV Rheinland has subjected the WINAICO solar modules to a demanding hail impact test: Hailstones up to 35 mm in diameter hit the modules at an impact speed of up to 100 km/h - and the results are impressive.

Due to the increasing number of severe hail events, pv magazine reported on the 2019 study by the Free University of Amsterdam (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, VUA, Netherlands) entitled „The vulnerability of solar panels to hail“, where researchers documented, among other things, that larger hailstones can cause considerable damage to solar modules.

Tests confirm the relevance of the WINAICO module structure: glass-glass modules were mounted in such a way that they could bend freely. An airbag was applied to the back of the panel and the load was increased by slowly inflating the airbags. The average deflection was monitored at 1 kPa intervals during the tests. WINAICO-modules were able to withstand up to 30 % higher loads thanks to the 2 mm thick glass.

Backsheet glass prevents water, chemicals or other potentially harmful environmental influences from attacking the cell composite more efficiently than a film - even under higher loads.

The frame plays a fundamental role: it protects the internal laminate from thermal and mechanical stresses and serves as a fixed point for the connection to the substructure. The unique, 35 mm thick WINAICO frame made of solid aluminium ensures maximum stability and optimum protection against material fatigue. The integrated aluminium corner elements ensure greater torsional rigidity and watertightness in the critical corner areas and at the same time guarantee the best possible stress transfer between the individual frame parts.

With TOPCon technology, we have created a product generation that allows a warranty period of 30 years and will exceed this period. The product details have a positive effect in terms of a reduction in performance of max. 1 % in the in the first year of operation and a maximum of 0.4 % per year up to the 30th year of operation - a significant improvement compared to conventional modules.

We attach great importance to dialogue, transparency and collaborative cooperation with specialists from the trade. We do a lot to achieve this - for example, the delivery route of each module from production to the roof is documented in a traceable manner.
